Tonight Michelle, Lois and I went to Town Hall to hear Sarah Vowell read from her new book, The Wordy Shipmates. I love listening to writers talk, because they spend so much time thinking, their comments and answers to questions are always so complete, at least to my ears.
I’ve only read Take The Cannoli, and soaked up every word, all of her other books are on my wish list to read. I’ve heard her a few times on NPR. She is so interested and passionate about history, I wish she would have been my history teacher in school. I think I would have paid more attention, been interested in more events and people, and enjoyed history even more (I already enjoy history, but not as much I think if I had a teacher who loved it at much as Sarah Vowell does).
After school on Friday, we headed downtown to the Central Library. After getting our library cards, we each got one, we headed upstairs to the cafe. We shared a bagel and Iz got her usual hot chocolate. After eating all the whipped cream, the hot chocolate landed on her lap, my lap the table and the floor. But that wasn’t going to stop us….
The gift shop is conveniently located right next to the cafe, we spent a looooong time there, Iz needed to handle every single thing, but we ended up getting matching rainbow rings.
Now that Iz goes to school all week and I work, we don’t spend as much time together. I really, really miss her. I’d gotten so used to doing everything with her. We were always together. Now, whenever we are home together, I just want to hang out with her.
Fridays is half days, so for our first Friday, we had a wonderful afternoon. We skipped on over to Endolyne Joe’s in West Seattle for a hot chocolate, gourmet mac ‘n’ cheese and a hot fudge sundae. We shared them all (except the hot chocolate, even though she doesn’t finish them, they are hers, no touching my hot chocolate mommy).
After lunch we went to Lincoln Park. It was such an amazing day.
We even found a jellyfish on the beach.
After dinner, we had to watch some jellyfish movies.
I haven’t checked and counted the days that we’ve been here (in Seattle that is…), but it’s been a few weeks and we are meeting new friends, catching up with old friends and visiting some really fun places. We’ve had a few nights of tears and missing our old home, but when morning comes and play begins, we stash those feelings for a wee bit.

Gorilla Statue Love
This little pup wandered into our lives one day, just walked right up to the front door. We took care of it for a few days before we took it to the vet, then to the shelter to await his new home. Iz cried as we left him at the shelter, she loved this little pup so, so much.
We made Dutch Babies one morning. yum.
It’s been just lovely, the weather is different from what I remember, the storms now include thunder and lightening and this one ended with a rainbow.
