Happy Birthday Iz!

Friday was Iz’s Birthday.  Her 3rd Birthday.  It goes so fast!

Izzy#3 - Birthday Present

She woke early – and I was so excited to give her the present.  I started making it over a year ago, and decided I would finish for this birthday.

I think she loves her!

Izzy#3 - Checking the Cake

Later that day we made a cake.  We went to the store the day before and picked it out.  Is picked out a white cake with white frosting.  I suggested chocolate, but she said no, the picture was ALL WHITE! AND MAMA – WHERE ARE THE SPRINKLES???

Izzy#3 - Making the Rolls

For dinner we made California Rolls.  We all participated – and made them together.  It was SO MUCH FUN!  We all loved them.

Izzy#3 - Library Books

Saturday – We went to the library. We go every weekend after ballet.  Iz usually plays, but this time, she sat down and read through every book on that bottom shelf!  Whew!  We were there for a long time.  She loves books, we read all the time.  But at the library, there’s just too much to do and usually friends are there too, but this time we spent time with the books.

Izzy#3 - Decorating Cakes

Sunday – we made cupcakes for a little party.  More SPRINKLES!

Izzy#3 - Opening Presents

Fun with friends and some presents.

Izzy#3 - The Candles

And singing and candle blowing!  We had a lot fun.  Great friends helping us celebrate.

Uh-Oh - Who's Hair is this?

Then, today, I found this.  Makes me a little nauseous…who’s hair is this?  Iz says it’s Summer’s.  I called, Summer still has her hair.  Last year, it was cupcakes in her bed. This year – they played Salon.  What’s going to happen next year?

I am astonished that it’s been 3 years since Iz was born.  As I was thinking about her birthday this year, her actual birth came back to me more vividly than ever before.  Wow – 3 years of being a mom. A parent.  Every day is pretty amazing.  I cherish every moment.   I wonder what this year will bring.  Every day, Iz surprizes me wih something else.  Her stories, her words, her reasoning.  I love this being a mom thing.

Very Random Esty Love…

I’ve seen these in person, when we visited Lulu in Seattle and she told me about her Esty Shop.  I’ve always loved and admired her work, and even more so after seeing the bracelet and ring version of the earrings that a friend was wearing.

I love these cute Owl Rings from Insidesign.

I’d Rather Be Riding a Unicorn bumper stickers.

Pirate Cupcake Tote.

I’m loving Lottie Frank’s  fashion illustrations.  I’ve been flipping through my stash of illustrations I’ve done since college, and I stumbled on an old notebook filled with fashion illustration doodles.  Inspiring!

And lastly – I think this santa key is such a darling idea!

Happy Half Birthday To You

When is My Birthday? – Well, dear sweet Iz, today is your half birthday. (She is 2, but if you ask her she will hold up her hand, all fingers extended and say 5.)

Now, I wouldn’t normally even acknowledge this, but everyone and their mother has been asking me how old she is. Has she grown? I hear full sentences. Listen to those words coming out of her mouth.

So – I find myself today, checking out cupcakes. We have cupcakes for every birthday. They are delicious and easy. No forks, no plates, no cutting. I LOVE THEM. They are super special. Here’s what I’ve found:

There are some great recipes and pictures and info at 52 cupcakes and I thought these were really cute!

I love reading about Posy’s Party Cakes Cupcake Adventures – and this post on Saint Cupcakes.

And of course – we’ll have to invest in a couple of these cupcake carriers to make sure everything stays in tact.

I’d love to decorate the house with one of these fabulous fabric flower garlands (added to my to-do list…) or I love these garlands too!

Happy Birthday dear sweet Iz. Can’t believe it’s been 2 1/2 years already.
