It’s me!

Self Portrait Black Pond 9.14.07

I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember. One of my first sewing lessons must have been with a needle and red thread, and I stitched around a colorbook page of Red Riding Hood. In the second grade, with Mom’s help, I made my very first pantsuit (hint to my age perhaps?). The top was a pink calico print and the bottom was solid pink. It even had a belt. Mom tells me I wore it for a week straight! I’ve been making things every since.

I studied Fashion Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and worked in the Fashion Industry for 15 years. I’m a mom now and feel that ever since I became a mom, I have never been more passionate about creating things and inspiring others to create.

I lead a sewing workshop for kids, Sewing 1-2-3 at The Children’s Art Museum, and you can see what happens in those classes in the studioCAM blog. I offer private sewing lessons to individuals or groups and have launched a sewing lounge, LuckyStitches. To learn more, contact me at zannestar(at)gmail(dot)com.
